Saint-Gobain Glass India (SGGI) started operations in the year 2000 with the commissioning of its first float glass plant at Sriperumbudur, a 1500-year-old temple town near Chennai. Since then it has rapidly expanded and deepened its presence in the Indian Flat Glass Market. Today Saint-Gobain Glass India is the clear market leader in the flat glass industry (with a share of 40+%) and a strong brand. SGGI has pioneered several innovations in terms of products, marketing and manufacturing that helped in the emergence of product differentiation and segmentation in what was seen as a commodity industry.

 

Products & Solutions:

The World Glass Complex houses the state-of-the-art glass solutions facility comprising of Advanced Coated Glass Processing Line (ACGP), Advanced Laminated Processing Line (ALGP) and Advanced Fire Safety Glass Processing Line (AFGP). The solutions facility was set up as a one stop source for servicing the requirements of mega and super-mega projects.

Advanced Coated Glass Processing (ACGP) was set up in the year 2011 to cater to the growing needs of the safety in the construction sector. The line is equipped with the state of art Cutting & Grinding facilities, Tempering furnaces, Screen printing and Insulated Glass Unit production lines - with capability of handling Jumbo glass sizes. ACGP has executed projects across the countries in Africa, South East Asia, Australia and the Indian Ocean Rim. The line processes a wide range of products comprising of solar control, low-e, lacquered glass with a variety of value additions such as enameling and ceramic fritting. With European quality standards, international certifications (machinery and process) and material test certificates, quality is a foremost focus at ACGP.

When it comes to protection of people or assets or creating comfort spaces, Advanced Laminated Glass Processing line, offers a choice of security applications and acoustic solutions. Be it solutions for life-safety or choicest acoustic requirements is capable of producing a wide range of products from a simple single interlayer product to highly complex protect range encompassing anti vandal, anti-burglary and bullet resistant glasses- with capability of handling Jumbo glass sizes. The line set up in the year 2015 at Chennai, ALGP has executed projects across the countries in Middle East, South East Asia, Africa, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka besides the Domestic Market.

While several opaque construction materials that offer passive fire protection were available in India, architects & builders had repeatedly expressed the desire to use transparent fire protection material that does not compromise with their design intent or fire safety requirements. The AFGP set up in 2012 under the aegis of Vetrotech Saint-Gobain, is a specialized business which is solely dedicated to manufacturing of Fire resistant glasses. The range includes wide variety of products which cater to different grades of fire protection namely E, EW & EI for durations upto 240 minutes. The Chennai production site is unique in the world in that it is certified by both UL & CE certification entities and the products made here will carry both the CE and UL marks.  The Vetrotech Fire and Protect® range of products are sold all across the IMEA region which covers the whole of India, Middle East (UAE, Qatar & other GCC), South Asia, South East Asia and Far East Asia.
